NO SISSY STUFF-
Last Poem
independent
NO SISSY STUFF hails from Germany and they play heavy thrash metal. Now that's what I call an interesting release!! Seven songs are on this debut
CD, which runs for about twenty-eight minutes. Twenty-eight minutes of very fine thrash metal with a lot of variation. The music sounds a bit mysterious
sometimes. Listen for example to the middle part in title track "Last Poem".
But most of the time they provide the listener a tight rhythm, fast riffing and very clear vocals, that sometimes is filled up with a growl or a
grunt. So, who's responsible for these heavenly songs? Well, we have Gudrun Schlich
on drums and backings and we have three sisters completing the band. Now that's something different, right? How many bands can you name that consist
of three sisters, who obviously share the love for heavy metal? We hear Katja Kesselem on guitars, Daniela Kesselem on bass guitar and Birgit
Kesselem on vocals and guitars. One of the highlights here for me is "Trains" with its wonderful guitarwork at the beginning. NO SISSY STUFF has
a lot of power, and that is what you would expect from a band with a name like this. I wonder how they will sound live. I bet, they will raise the
roof! The CD cover is a bit mysterious, too. Maybe I'm totally wrong, but I get visions about the war, when I see the CD cover. I'd better ask these
girls what they're trying to say with it, when we do an interview with them in one of our upcoming issues. Until that happens, I'll have another listen
to "Last Poem", which is a great debut album of a very promisisng all-female band from Germany. One last warning: this is indeed no stuff for sissies!!
