Last Poem
No Sissy Stuff is a girly band hailing from Germany. The line up
consists out of the sisters Katja (lead/rhythm guitar), Daniela (bass
guitar) & Birgit (lead & backing vocals / rhythm, lead guitar) Kesselem
and drummer Gundrun Schlich. This seven song CD is their debut effort.
When I first played this CD I was not impressed because the girls seemed
to be not certain what style they want to play. After a few more spins
all parts started to fall in place and I started to like this album. The
foundation of the No Sissy Stuff sound is power metal.
On this solid base they erect a song with ingredients from thrash metal.
Most songs hold various tempo changes. This variation in the
arrangements makes this album cool to listen to. So the girls have
pretty much everything under control in the musical department. The
vocal department is however less solid. Birgit is not a bad vocalist but
she tends to use different styles. I am not too impressed with the
aggressive side of her voice. If she uses her natural tone it sounds a
lot better. So to conclude we can say that these four girls have
delivered a nice debut. So lets see how they can develop in the song
writing part and also I hope that the next effort will have a more
stable vocal performance. (7)
