Review Italian "Babylonmagazine", 13 JULY 2001 by Riccardo Maffiodo

No Sissy Stuff is a female quartet coming from Germany that offers to us a Metal of a classic matrix that, though a bit too much linked to the kind of genre played, is worth some attention. First, because these girls are not bad, they know how to make move the listeners' ass, know how to write neck-breaker riffs and impact songs. Second, because there aren't keyboards (HALLELUJAAAAAAH!!!) and the sound is more rough, and based on that combination of guitar and bass that was so much used during the 80'es that I like so much. Third, because the tracks are not all the same. There are slower songs, with some accelerations like the opener "Painted Black", and songs that are more intellectual like the last "Dark Side", and others where the rithm is at full throttle from the beginning to the end like "Last Poem". The song writing and the structure of the songs are rather various, making the listening of the 27 minutes of the album pleasant. Another thing to underline is that the singer alternates clean voices to others similar to growl, and to me it's an interesting choice of sure impact. What can I say about the pronunciation of the singer, so much german? I'll only say that I love it so much, expecially if the voice is from a girl, because it melts the sweetness of a female voice with the hardness of the german tongue. The only bad thing is the production, not enough for the level of the songs. I can't imagine how songs like "None Of Us" or "Last Poem" would sound with a production in "Nuclear Blast style".... I hope I will hear again soon the name No Sissy Stuff and, why not, see them on stage.
